Today's #Scifi #fantasy short story #AGameOfPrejudices

       "I want to be alone, I just want to be alone"
       Dolly the sheep.
       Well went to my anime club today. It was show-n-tell day like we do every semester. I showed everyone my glass armonica. If you don't know what that is here's a link to someone playing one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQemvyyJ--g
      Mine is homemade and much, much simpler and works fairly differently as we had no idea how to make one. (The most instructions were put glass on a spinning rod, that's how Benjamin Franklin did it!) So really mine is still a prototype with 9 glasses. We attached the rod to an electric motor. Anyway onto the flash fiction!

A Game of Prejudices

        You. Human. You and I are going to play a sort of “game”. I know of human prejudices. You judging each other despite the fact you differ in so little traits. But I want to see how your potential prejudices with me. For I am a creature far different from you humans. One that you would see in only in your books, movies and fantasies. But at this point in time I'm not going tell you what I am. I want to think about how prejudices could go far beyond just your simple human species. I want you to imagine that you are speaking with me in a room about whatever, could be mundane like television or something much more important, like the wars going on in the world. I want you to think about the assumptions you would make about me. Let's play this game. And to play it I will simply list creatures that I could be and you will think of everything you would assume about me and how you would speak to me. How would you behave if I were:
A dragon, twice your size;
A little girl fairy only a few inches tall;
A giant brain within a robotic shell;
A vampire wearing dashing clothes but a wicked smile;
A demon with twisted horns, and knarled teeth;
A snake with the upper body of a beautiful, smiling woman wearing a white dress;
A pile of slime with eyes all over and an oozing mouth;
A hardly visible ghost, where the wall behind me can be seen, but through an eerie white fog;
A squid creature somehow breathing on land that can somehow speak as well;
An animated statue copy of yourself;
A man wearing black with angel wings coming from his back;
A giant eye and nothing else. You can hear my voice ringing in your head.
        Now what did you think you would assume? I wonder how much you played along. If you did you might appreciate that your prejudices are limited to your merely your limited physical appearance DNA variance. Imagine your world if all of you varied in physical form to that degree. In truth I am a shape shifter with a condition where I randomly shape shift unlike others of my kind. Thus I have experienced random physical judgment based on huge physical variance. When I saw your species I wished I looked so similar to another. I wished I was the same. I have actually been all of those things.
        So how did you enjoy my game?

Today's short story #TheEvolvingNightmare

“Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.”
Rip Van Winkle*

      Traveled to another dimension today and played Pokemon with Cthulhu. He beat me pretty good. Who would have though he's a competitive player? Dang.

The Evolving Nightmare

      I found one of the worst kind of terrors. The therapist can't help me with it. The medications aren't working either. I have a recurring dream. A recurring nightmare. It's horrible. Everyone pities me, though I think my doctor thinks she can get a paper or two out of this, the witch.
      The nightmare has me walking through a garden. A beautiful garden being guuided by a beautiful woman. It's a sunny day. But after a minute or two it turns to a deep rain. The woman remains beautiful. She grips me by the arm and starts dragging me along. I start to see horrible things appear in the garden and even though she's a frail looking woman I can't escape.
       The way this nightmare is truly frightening is that I both know what is coming and do not. Two-thirds of the horrible things in the garden stay the same and the others change. It is random and eventually a new set comes. The nightmare is so lucid and I am so very aware. I know the horror that will come but there will always be something new to torment me. The nightmare is always evolving each night and I can't stop. To know and not know. It's a confusion that wrecks my insides and bends my mind. That is the new terror I have found and will keep finding. Help.

Today's short story #TheMindMagician

“We have nothing to fear but fear itself.”
Princess Celestia, My Little Pony Friendship is Magic*

Today nothing of significance happened...or not...hehe...

The Mind Magician

       Hello, I am the great Mind Magician. Lord of Imagination. I can do tricks beyond the simple reality just by you reading this page! Don't believe me? Well just read my act and you shall be amazed! No need for tickets for my act. All you need is to read on and bring an open imagination!
       Now imagine a stage. A fine stage with pulled curtains. The stage has tough, antique wood with a golden sheen. And on that stage is me with my wonderful top hat and suit. Both are a deep black. Like that creeping shadow that always frightens you. But my smile is kind and looks even better next to my beautiful assistant. She's a lovely young lady wearing a red dress. Her skin has the color of almonds.
      Please keep these scene firmly implanted in your mind. Read the above paragraph over and over if you have to. Ingrain it in your brain. You see what you imagine right. Sight is sight in your mind? And you can compare where things are in relation to each other can't you?
     Now here's where my show gets interesting. If you lost the imagine while you were reading read again. Next look at your finger. As you would compare where two objects are normally in the real world compare where your finger is two where the scene is. Imagine the scene in front of you. Place your finger on the stage. Imagine me pulling out a wand. Join your reality and your imagination. You may need to re-read the scene.
      It doesn't end here. Pull out your memories and imagine them in front of you and put your finger in them.  Keep breaking the borders. You may want to do this for minutes or even hours. Go beyond memories and invent your own scenes. Expand just beyond your finger and just imagining a little image in front of you. Impose an entire scene in the reality around you. Blend it all and break all the borders. Break it all.
      Finally imagine me taking a bow as my show as come to a close. It's up to you from here.

Today's #Scifi #fantasy short story TheSpiritOfLiteraturesMessage

“I would have gotten away with it too if it wasn't for you meddling kids!”
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation*

       While on the Internet today I noticed one of Progressive Car insurance banners where they have Sonic the Hedgehog. I thought it odd that they used Sonic the Hedgehog for their ads but I never gave it deep thought because I don't pay much attention to TV commercials or those banners. But now I thought about it beyond the oddness of “What demographic are they going for?” Here I began to think...
     Why would Sonic the Hedgehog want car insurance?
     The “blue blur” is an animal with super speed. He runs faster than cars. The only time he's used cars was during one or two racing games (But is still inefficient compared to him running, I guess he was just being sporting?) If I had to go with a video game character as mascot for my car insurance company I personally would have gotten Mario. Wouldn't make more sense to have a middle-aged plumber shopping for car insurance than an animal with super speed?

The Spirit of Literature's Message

      Greetings. I am a Spirit of Literature. Bit of a pretentious sounding title isn't it? How about you just call me Todd. It's much more pronounceable than my real name anyway. I've come here from native realm beyond the pages to deliver you a warning. Deliver all you readers a warning.
       Distance yourself from the written word.
       My brothers and sisters didn't want me to tell you this. They disagree with me. But I believe that it is in your best interest to listen to me. My warning is that stories are dangerous. You have been telling them for eons but now that you are becoming more and more sophisticated as a specifies you have been evolving your fiction and creating more of it. My brothers and sisters are ecstatic that books are spreading. However I understand their danger. I understand the danger of it all.
      And it goes beyond just a book. Even the littlest story can damage you or anything like a news article.     Words are a dangerous thing and now they are being swapped at an alarming rate instead of just in your isolated villages.
       You may be laughing now. Some of you even thinking “Yes I've heard this 'propaganda speech' before.” I don't speak of propaganda. I'm not talking about some sort of political swaying by some corrupt organization. I'm talking about the insanity of the word itself. A Spirit of Literature such as myself is born within the world of words beyond the pages. It is an unreal world that I am seeing you humans dragging yourself more and more. It is the place where the insanity of the word exists.
     Imagine this scene: There's a nice, little house on a hill. It's painted white. It's worn, yet still looks vibrant. At the bottom of the hill is a tall fence and it keeps in all the puppies that belong to the family. It's a fresh litter full of brown, happy, playful dobermans. They almost look like their laughing when they pant and play.
        You've gone insane. You've dragged yourself into a scene that doesn't exist. A world that doesn't exist.   You give these words life. Even if I lose my life as a Spirit of Literature I wish you humans lost all language so you wouldn't be exposed to words and dragged into images of things that don't exist. Why can't you be like an animals? Why are you pulling yourself into words? Into non-existence? Often into the non-existence of just imagining characters that aren't real? You even cry for them in your insanity. You analyze these stories.  You bury your minds deep in words. I was born into metaphysical plane beyond these pages. I've seen your minds being buried into these stories from my world. You even do it with your movies, video games, comic books and art. Sometimes I wonder if those are even more twisted. When I see a bird fly in the sky at least I know it lives in the real world.
      You humans understand abstraction. You think your intelligence is a blessing? You have been gifted with madness! The ability to send your minds into the darkness of non-existence! I've warned you...distance yourself from the words.

“Tag! You're it!”
Terminator*

      Grandma came over today and we watched the movie Mirror, Mirror. I liked it. I didn't have time to write one of my silly “summaries” of it unfortunately because of a tired spell from the medication that I am fortunately getting off of and the length of the movie itself. Today's #Scifi #fantasy short story #VillainBlock

“A fool and his money are soon parted.”
Mr. T*

        My friend CJ is over right now so I quickly wrote this fun little story for y'all to enjoy while he is playing a game about a ninja killing other ninjas. I assume the final boss is probably a really tall ninja. Or a robot. It is a video game after all.

Villain Block

        “Hahahhahahahhahahhahahahahahahahhahahaha!” My evil laughs echoed throughout my evil, evil lair. I then sighed. “I got nothing.” I admitted to myself. Though I've never written a book I think I can now relate to all those writers in the world. I can't come up with any ideas for an evil plan. I thought the laugh might help, but I still couldn't come up with anything original. No new evil plans. And no super villain worth a hoot would recycle a plan. Just like an author I must be having that “writer's block”. Hmmm...but this is the version for evil villains. I must name it. I must use all my intelligence as evil genius Dr. Mindblown. I shall call it... “villain block”! Now how shall I conquer this obstacle to world domination? After all, I cannot conquer the world without an evil plan...and this “villain block” is preventing me from doing so.
       Though I do not normally use the technology of the common man I will use it in this case. I will use the commoners Internet. Look up how the common writer deals with “writer's block”. Whatever techniques work against it might work against “villain's block”.
       After looking at several websites it seems that several methods are purposed. Though these seem purposed for novels and stories I may be able to adapt them to evil plans. All revolve around thought processes though. They suggest mapping out characters and plot points on paper. The characters I adapt into my enemies and myself. The plot points I may adapt into possible elements in the flow of events. The characters in a story will the pawns in my schemes and the plot will be my evil plan.
       Before I looked down on all literature as a simple waste of time. Inflated entertainment. But it looks now that their techniques may help me hatch my final schemes to defeat all my enemies and take over the world. I realized that this is not the first time I have had “villain's block” and these techniques to fight “writer's block” may even enhance my schemes. Mwahahahhahaha. I may defeat the superheroes of the world yet and conquer it. All of the world bowing before me thanks to these common fools giving me the secrets of “writer's block”!

Today's #Scifi #fantasy short story #AYoungGirlAndHerTimeMachine

“Weight Watchers isn't a diet, it's a healthy way to live.”
Galactus*

       Well I made that doll at the club last night. We were making little plush Japanese rice balls(the triangular kind) I however had not sown since I was five so the result was a very magical thing. One girl in the club reminded me a little how to sow and started me on one edge. (We made it by combining two rounded triangles of material with one long strip we all cut out, we were making everything from scratch). I did one edge in the standard back and forth style shown to me. From there I did things my own way since I had that little bit of support.(Plus I'm not good at the back and forth) However my methods of sowing are very haphazard. To attach the two rounded triangles with less thread and without using pins for extra support I pulled my needle through many varying angles to unite the three pieces. I stuffed it. (It is a plush doll after all.) through a little hole. I kept pulling the needle through.
        At the end I had my needle and three long strings coming out of the back somehow. I don't know how I managed to sow with one needle and thread and get three loose strings but I did. With some incredible knot tying I managed to use those three strings to stabilize the rest of the plush doll and make it so I only had like one little tiny hole in my entire doll. At the end I cut the last little bit of string behind my thread and hoped the random web of string wouldn't collapse. It didn't and now I have my own amazingly adorable doll.
        Anyway onto the flash fiction!

A Young Girl And Her Time Machine

         Crap. This is the 50th time I used my time machine and I still can't come up with anything good to say. Every time I try to ask my crush out for a date I goof up and I use my time machine to make sure I avoid an embarrassing refusal to whatever stupid thing I said to him. Yeah all my “genius” to make a time machine and I can't even ask a boy out. Good job Amanda. Can make a time machine, but can't date. One time I traveled back a week to try and figure something out and I still couldn't come up with something good.
You know what screw it! I'll just ask him straight. It doesn't matter if I'm not all the popular and he's the most popular. It doesn't matter if there's probably another popular girl around the corner with something better to say. I won't flinch. I'll take the refusal. I'll use time machine to save him the embarrassment of having been asked out by such a dorky girl as myself but I'll risk the embarrassment for just the slightest change of having a date with him!
          I tried...and he said yes! He likes me! Guess I don't need the time machine anymore! Can't think of much else to use it for anyway. I'm going to be the most popular girl in school. Aha to Diana and her little group who said I could never be popular! I got the most popular boy. Tee hee!
