jokes about ideas like, “How many cats does it take to screw in an
idea?” Anyway onto the flash fiction!
The Lesson
The children opened up their science books. The lesson began. The
teacher explained how millions of years ago a big, big rock came from
space and smashed into the planet. It caused mass extinction, killing
billions of species and bringing in an ice age. The teacher was quite
the story teller, making his telling of the meteor hitting the Earth
an epic tale.
One child said, “So that's what happened to all the humans.”
