Today's #flashfiction #TheOneWhoHeldTheWorldInABox

“I'm afraid of heights.”
Spiderman* #quote

Today I found some fool's gold. It was so dumb it didn't even know what two plus two was! Anyway onto the flash fiction!

The One Who Held The World In A Box

Daichi, born in America from a linage of Japanese immigrants that met with a lineage of Italian ones, he grew up learning Japanese, English, and Italian. Normally members of his family never strayed from the family languages. But Daichi differed from them. He grew fascinated with learning languages. Long days at the library and speaking with all the immigrant children at school he picked up word after word.
His hobby became wanting to learn more languages and meet more people. However Daichi didn't like to, or have the financial means or time to physically travel. He was still in high school when he picked up a beginner's understanding of Spanish, French, and German. But he did get a laptop.
Long distance communication allowed him to voice chat with others who wanted to learn more languages. He knowledge increased. Mastery in more and more languages. He understood casual conversation the most. He did pick up academia, but the works of old didn't interest him.
He held the world in that laptop. People spoke to him about their culture. But not about the old literature or paintings or dusty things of past. Celebrities, TV shows or whatever brought a smile to their face in the then and now was their life and culture. Well, he did speak to a few professors who talked of the old ages as the thing that brought a smile to their face.
