Today's #flashfiction The Lukewarm Age

“Wave your hands in the air like you just don't care!”
Billy the Kid* #quote

Today I asked the man on the ceiling if he'd knew where my time machine went. He mumbled back to me, “Tomato.” Anyway onto the flash fiction!

The Lukewarm Age

In the future another like the one that caused the Ice Age hits the Earth. However it does not cause another Ice Age. It causes the Lukewarm Age. The entire planet became one environmental meh. The large general alteration caused many lifeforms to die out, as any massive change can cause large amounts of death, including to humanity. But also humanity adapted instead of just living by conviently being a race that thrived in a lukewarm climate. Weather never hit perfect, but was always acceptable and never became extremely unpleasant, and the seasons were never drastic. Once adjustment hit crops were steady and eventually boomed. That was besides humanity's intense desire to farm at incredible strength.
When the planet became meh, it became the most universally palatable. Without seasonal change to slow down humans farmers made things as they pleased. Children never quite knew the beautiful wonders of spring, but neither did winter attack them. Only the most extreme northern parts got snow. But starvation reduced as even in poorer countries farming became easier as there was no need to fight through the rough winters of old. After all the deaths of people trying to find out what grew in the Lukewarm Age.

Archeologists look back at the Lukewarm age and see that most species of the planet died in mass extinction and humanity lost half its population. Then a massive boom occurred as everyone adapted advantage of an average climate that hardly changed. Humanity tripled from its original size. The archeologists then wondered what it would be like to never be able to see spring or a day with a wonderfully cool breeze.
