“There's
always a peaceful solution.”

Today I went to
Easter dinner and it was most delicious as various family members
brought their dishes for all of us to dine upon. I look forward to
next Easter and all other future family gatherings. Anyway onto the
flash fiction!
The Sheriff
Who Dodged Bullets
Sheriff Barns
managed to become the lawman that drew more trouble to town by
stopping it. In a duel an outlaw shot first straight at Barns and
Barns managed to shoot back without a scratch on him. Every outlaw
that faced him couldn't hit Barns. They called him the Sheriff that
could dodge bullets. And more trouble came to town as outlaws came
just to pick a fight with the policeman who just wanted a peaceful
town. Ruffian after ruffian tried and fail to hit Sheriff Barns and
all failed.
An outlaw named
Hammond Jones caused enough to trouble to get Barns unfocused, tried
to shoot Barns and got the Sheriff's usual fatal shot to the chest.
Sheriff Barns had an old fashioned philosophy of if you try and shoot
someone first you deserve to take a dirt nap.
Hammond asked
Barns, “Please, tell me, as a final request. Tell me, how do you do
it? How do you dodge bullets?” The outlaw, like many before him,
thought he was the first to ask this as their last request.
Barns knelt
down to the dying outlaw and said, “No man can dodge a bullet.
However, a quick man can move out of the way of the gun.”
