Today I
assisted mother with one of her guest blog posts about her book by
getting quotes from her book. Anyway onto the flash fiction!
The Tasty
Ted Incident
The restraint
commercial showed a man at a table holding a big burger. The
trademarked Tasty Ted of Ted's Burgers. In the year 2091 Ted's
Burgers dominated the market as the largest burger joint franchise.
The narrator
sat with a microphone offset behind a bullet-proof, protective glass
offset. The cameras and other devices were similar protected. Only
the man with a few extras were in the scene. All staff stood behind
walls of some sort.
The narrator
spoke, “You know the old saying, 'get the most bang for your buck?
Well at Ted's Burger's you do! Look at how explosively delicious our
smokin' deal, smokin' hot Tasty Ted is!”
The man bit
into the burger and it exploded, blowing him up and knocking several
of the extras out. Later the ending saying “Explosively Delicious!”
would be edited after the explosion.
The director
laughed as pieces of metal flew at the protective glass from the fake
burger bomb. “Now that was a good effect. It's a bit sad that we
had to kill that android, but whatever. We got the budget.”
Once news of
this incident leaked questions of android sentience came up and a
sort of civil rights movement rose, along with scientist's working to
create more of a real mind for an android. Something that could only
be created when they asked themselves what a mind was through
thinking of death by means of the Tasty Ted explosion.
