“1.
A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a
human being to come to harm. 2. A robot must obey the orders
given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict
with the First Law. 3. A robot must protect its own existence as
long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second
Laws.”

I wonder, how
many rats try to crawl out of the maze? Anyway onto the flash
fiction!
Mad
Scientist Parenting
“I'm going to
the grocery store Edina,” the mad scientist said to his young
daughter while he walked towards the door in his evil black, leather
lab coat. “Whatever you do, don't push that big red button on top
of my desk in the lab. Something bad will happen that you won't like.
Remember listen to Daddy!” He soon departed.
Edina managed
to ignore the button for half an hour. Quite the will for a child.
But curiosity took over and she decided that she didn't care anymore
what her father thought and pushed the button. She heard a massive
chain of explosions. One right after the other, like destructive
laughter; like her father's laugh.
She shivered.
What did she do she wondered? How much trouble would she be in?
Her father
arrived home. As he held the groceries he looked at her and asked,
“Did you push the button Edina dear?”
“Yes,” she
replied. She hoped telling the truth would reduce the amount of
trouble she was in.
Her father let
out his signature evil laugh as he placed the groceries on the
counter. “That's too bad. Why did you have to set off all the
explosives I put in your toys?”
When Edina
heard this she ran to her room and saw that yes, her father planted
explosives in all her toys. The only thing left standing was half a
dollhouse.
The mad
scientist walked up to his daughter and put his hand on her shoulder.
“Let this be lesson to always listen to Daddy.”
