Adventuring
Ad
My friend CJ and
I went over my book a lot. We did more than just grammatical things,
we discussed a lot of concepts and stuff. My book is very surreal and
he's editing for more than just grammar he's looking at continuity
and the nuts and bolts of the world. This book is the most massive
endeavor I've done, so I'm glad he's helping me make it 100% better.
Anyway, enjoy the flash fiction!
Adventuring

Sophia the
Seventh came from a long line of adventures. And this would be her
first adventure where she was the leader, she had just turned 18. She
was excited as could be. She had gotten all her papers straight from
the Adventuring Guild for Quest Authorization to get full “dibs”
as she called it on the quest. She had gotten a nearly full party of
adventurers, but she needed a wizard. Wizards found you instead of
you finding the wizards so adventurers put up ads. She worked up an
with ad detailing their adventure and what her current party was
like. She wanted the most qualified wizard so she detailed the ad for
the wizard as so:

Magic
Sophia the
Seventh had created such a long list because for her first adventure
she wanted a wizard with many talents to cover all her adventuring
needs. She was about to nail the list to the town post board but then
thought of something else she needed. She wrote underneath:
Note: Wizard
must be very handsome.
She waited in
the tavern of the town. (The ad told whatever wizards fit the
requirements to meet her there.) A few hours in Sophia figured it was
a long shot that anyone could possibly meet her requirements and
thought to herself she should have realized it was a stupid idea in
the first place when she wrote it. Nobody could fit those
requirements. But yet someone in a wizard's robes approached her. It
was actually a young man around her age.
“Are you
Sophia the Seventh?” he asked.
“Yes.” she
responded.
“I'm a wizard
and I fit all the requirements on your advertisement. My name is
Johnathan.” he told her. The young man had ragged hair and an
average face. His body was fairly frail. Though not hideous or ugly
he was certainly not attractive.
“But you're
not,” she then paused, “Do you really know all that magic?” she
asked him.
“Yes. I'm a
star student at the academy. Y'know top of the class and all that.”
He smiled.
She looked at
him with a frown, “Did you see the bottom of the ad?” she
wondered if the young boy was deluded.
“Yes.” The
young man laughed. “It was a funny joke.”
Sophia laughed
awkwardly. “Yes. Yes it was a funny joke.”
