Today's #flashfiction #TheMeaningOfLifePrank

“It has a nutty flavor.”

CJ's hanging here today. Also there is air in the air. Anyway onto the flash fiction!

The Meaning Of Life Prank

There was once a wise wizard who spent his life looking for answers. Even one to the ultimate question: The meaning of life. One day he even summoned the gods forth to ask them that question. They didn't know, but he didn't know that they didn't know so they decided to prank the wizard. (Especially since he had caused so much trouble in his answer seeking with his magic and they thought he took this way too seriously.)
“A banana is yellow. Analyze this fact long enough and you will come to the answer you seek,” the head of the gods told him. After they left they laughed for quite some time.
“Yes, of course...I will find out the answer...after all this time.” The wizard was used to logical discourse and decided to put as many of the pieces of the puzzle together as he could over his long life and deduce the meaning of what the gods gave him to get the ultimate answer to his meaning of life question. His thoughts became intense and he mumbled to himself as he deduced.
“So if a banana is yellow that means it must have color. And for it to have color it must exist. Now do they mean just color in the sense that light bounces off of it...no! They mean color in the color that humanity has invented! They must mean it has yellow, the concept of what we perceive. Yes, a banana must not only exist to have color but it must be perceived! They just told me perception is definitely real! It is a 'truth' they gave me that a banana is yellow after all. Which if perception is the most important thing than the meaning of life is to perceive! Of course! That is why we exist! To perceive the world around us, live and learn and love and enjoy all reality! Thank you gods for telling me this! Now my search for an answer is finally over!”
The wizard frolicked about while the gods shrugged their shoulders as they watched him.
